Eyelid dermatitis

Postby HarMay11 on Mon Aug 05, 2019 10:26 pm

After two weeks of itchy red eyelids I finally went to the doctor who said it was eyelid dermatitis and prescribed me some cream. I applied the cream and the itching / prickling feeling was awful ! Is this normal or should I stop using it? Anyone else had this problem ?

Also anyone else not sleeping because of the itch/ sting ?

Hi HarMay11

Thank you for your recent post. Sorry to hear that the cream prescribed hasn't made much of a difference as yet, hopefully some of our members may be able to give some advice. If the problem does persist, however, we would always recommend that you return to your GP.

We will in September be holding an online clinic for skin conditions which you may find useful. I've attached a link for you to have a look, http://safemusic.info/online_clinics/online_clinic_on_skin_conditions_2019.php

Best wishes

Hi! You should call back the clinic and let the dermatologist know.. meanwhile, as eyelid skin is thinner and there is a higher risk of steroid cream complications as the eyelid is so near the eye, and sometimes the cream may 'drip' into the eye, the doctor may have prescribed you a non-steroid cream such as Protopic/ elidel. These usually will have some stinging effect which is tolerated after a few days (though I haven't tried, it's what I understand from other patients and doctors ie sting for the first few days). In any case, as it is so near the eye and the eyelid skin is one of the thinner skin areas of our body, you should call the clinic and let the doctor know. Big hugs!
